This sketchbook is suitable for all dry media: graphite pencils, colored pencils, crayons, charcoal, ballpoint pens, etc.
What is vellum paper? Vellum cardboard paper is sturdier than average thick cellulose paper. Vellum sheets are made of several layers of paper compressed together, which makes this paper more absorbent, fast drying, and prevents easy bleeding. This paper can handle ink pens and liners and not bleed through, so you can both sides of the paper for drawing, writing, and painting. It's great for layering dry media!
This paper is not thick enough for wet media, it can take one light layer of watercolors/gouache with minimal buckling and it does not bleed when used with ink pens, liners, and marker layers that are not too juicy. One side of the paper is more smooth and the other has more tooth. Both sides work great for pencils!
